Frequently Asked Questions

Who are Fondital?
Fondital, an Italian Company founded in 1970, is the first manufacturer of die-cast aluminium radiators in the world. Its product range has grown over time to meet all technical and aesthetical requirements. Besides die-cast, extruded and design radiators, Fondital also produces gas convector heaters, electric radiators, wall-hung, floor standing and condensation boilers, renewable energy systems (solar panel and photovoltaic modules) and accessories.

What are the radiators made of?
Fondital radiators are 100% aluminum recycled coming from RaffMetal, part of Fondital Group.

Raffmetal is the main European manufacturer of secondary aluminium alloys. The raw materials required for production are sourced from all over Europe, either as scrap material collected from aluminium processing companies, or as metal products that have reached the end of their life cycle.

How is the radiator painted?
Fondital radiator are all double painted with ANAPHORESIS and POWER COATING to guarantee no oxidation. More information on the painting process are available in You Tube on Fondital Channel :

Fondital’s painting process has been designed to protect against corrosion from particles in the air in the room. The radiators undergo two coating phases, the first being an anaphoretic coating, essential for protection. The second being powder coating, which increases the protection. All radiators are painted white (RAL 9010). They undergo a 14 step process:
Fluorozirconate treatment
Rinsing
Anaphorectic coating
Rinsing
Stoving
Powder coating
Stoving
Spray washing
Spray Pre-degreasing
Immersion degreasing
Rinsing
Etching

What are they filled with and how does it create heat?
Fondital radiators are made in 100% recycled aluminum both in body and lateral side.

Do not need liquid or gaseous fuels, they do not produce any type of combustion or emission to the atmosphere. They use electricity as the most safe, clean, ecological and economic option in the market, taking advantage of 100% of the consumed energy.

The high performance of mineral thermal fluid used in the Fondital radiators allows its molecular structure to work on an average temperature of 45 °C ensuring a perfect thermal transmission. It doesn’t require maintenance or replacement and will retain its properties for life.

The internal fluid is heated by means of an electrical resistor wish has a control thermostat and safety thermal fuse.

Are they expensive to operate?
When buying a electric radiator, it is of fundamental importance to verify the quality of its electronics.

Efficient adjustment ensures maximum comfort and minimum energy consumption thus reducing electricity bills. Choosing a unit with little adjustment capacity is very counter-productive due to running costs. As time goes by it will cause energy waste and generate higher consumption with respect to high quality units.

Operating costs however depend on the cost of electric at a given time. Assuming electricity costs 17p/hour per KW then the operating cost will then be 17p/hour for the 1KW model. This may not strictly be the case, as the thermostat within the radiator will limit the electricity when the room has reached its optimum temperature, reducing the running cost/hour by up to 25%.

Considering the energy consumption of an average home, it is possible to estimate annual savings equivalent to hundreds of Pounds thanks to a electric radiator with effective electronic adjustment.

For example, if adjustment efficiency is over 5, 10 or 15%, amounts of up to 50, 100 and 150 Pounds respectively can be saved per year.
Fondital offers its customers a unique, high-quality product, with efficient electronic management that ensures electrical energy consumption savings of 25%.

What size do I need?
Sizing radiators depends on a number of different variables. As a general rule of thumb, we suggest calculating the rooms volume (LxWxH) in feet, and multiplying it by 1.5. This will give you roughly the number of Watts needed to heat the room.

Again this is only an estimate, and if you wish an exact measurement we suggest contacting a trade professional to size the room for you.
